We’ve excavated on a wide range of projects in 2018, new discoveries including prehistoric settlement, Roman buildings and a medieval cemetery in Leicester, medieval village life, and 17th century stables at Bradgate Park. January: incredibly well-preserved sequence of medieval activity relating to the earlier history of the village occupation at Somerby. February: a hardy team braved the ‘beast from the east’ at a medieval moated grange in Hose (Leicestershire). March: Large urban excavation of Roman and medieval archaeology, at All Saints Road, Leicester. April: Jewry Wall, Leicester: 2018 and 1936. A mini-excavation revealing two Roman walls and a patch of tessellated pavement. May: Iron Age ditches and gullies at Isham, Northamptonshire. June: Roman and medieval buildings at Waterside, Leicester. July: The fourth season of the Bradgate Park Fieldschool, a large building located to the south of Bradgate House.
